Western Reserve Racquet and Fitness Club is proud to be a Silver Sneakers Fitness Program member. The Silver Sneakers program is the nation’s leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults. Prior to adding Silver Sneakers to our programming, Senior Fit was and still is a part of our group fitness schedule. Certified instructor Jan Gutowski has been leading our seniors to a healthier, more fit lifestyle for over 6 years now. Now, because of our partnership with Silver Sneakers, we are able to see more and more senior adults at the club enjoying classes and making new friendships.
We all know the benefits of cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength and flexibility. Lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels are only a few of the benefits obtained through exercising. Weight training will also help to improve bone density. Many of the exercises focus on balance and flexibility as well. We have added a new class for the seniors to attend to allow them to try something different and new. It’s Senior Zumba! Amy Hickin, our certified Zumba instructor takes the seniors to a Latin dance party every Tuesday at 11:15. It’s the most fun you’ll have working out! Check out our group fitness schedule for all of our classes for seniors and don’t forget to check with your doctor before starting your exercise program. We will be looking forward to starting you on your way to better fitness. It is simply a “win,win” program, and I am very happy to see Western Reserve support the Silver Sneakers experience.
