We all come to the gym for a reason. Something is motivating us to get healthy, strong and fit. But picking the right goals can sometimes be the difference between succeeding and coming up short. Whatever your goal, it should be specific. Instead of saying you want to “lose weight”, a better goal is getting to the gym 3 days a week and limiting your daily calories to a specific amount each day. Then, “losing weight” isn’t the goal, but the end result of reaching your more specific, attainable goals. Also, put a time frame on your goals. Instead of an open-ended goal like, “I want to put on more muscle”, set measurable goals like being able to do a certain amount of pushups in one month’s time. This will help you stay on track with a “deadline” in mind for hitting your goal. Lastly, you should write down your goal and keep it in a place where you are reminded daily what you are working towards. Using these tips to set your health and fitness goals will put you in a better position to succeed and ultimately live a stronger, healthier, more fit life!
