Summer fitness

Summer has arrived and it’s time for fresh produce and farmer’s markets. A fit lifestyle includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and in Ohio, now is the time for that! Not only is it a joy to eat all of the fresh produce from your garden, but you can also juice your veggies and blend your fruits for wonderful smoothies. Add some protein powder and you have a tasty nourishing vitamin filled drink.

Summer fitness can now include more outdoor activities to add to your indoor fitness programs. You can now appreciate all of those Spinning classes you kept up with all winter long as you find your outdoor rides easier and more enjoyable with your added muscle and cardio strength. It’s always a sure sign of summer when our outdoor courts are open. We have a great outdoor area with a grill and outdoor seating great for grilling after a match. Those indoor runs on the treadmill can now benefit you when you’re running in a 5k or participating in a trail run.

All of our group fitness classes continue all summer along with our small group training and personal training. It might be a great time to try a class, or train with one of our trainers on staff. Our playroom schedule allows you to bring the kids along while you workout or play tennis!

So, eat well, workout, and enjoy the beautiful summer days with your family and friends!

Group Fitness Director Lynn Duffy enjoys the summer months by exercising outdoors and having outdoor cookouts with family and friends.  For a quick, healthy snack, Lynn makes kale chips.

  1. Kale chips are extremely easy to make! Just tear up your kale into large chip size pieces. Toss in a small amount of olive oil (just enough to see the leaves appear shiny) Spread on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for approximately 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven temperature. A great snack that’s crunchy and nutritious too!
