Quinoa grows in the high altitude of the Andes Mountains and was a major food staple for centuries.
Technically, quinoa is part of the leafy green vegetable family and is a complete source of protein. Quinoa contains all the essential amino acids making it a great protein source for vegetarians. Quinoa is gluten free and contains phosphorous, magnesium , iron and fiber.
Quinoa can be eaten hot or cold . Use it like rice and combine it with beans, corn , onions and all kinds of various vegetables. Serve up a dish full of healthy, protein packed vegetarian delight!
